Del Ray & Rosemont

Situated in the heart of Alexandria City, Del Ray and Rosemont are beloved neighborhoods with a vibrant community feel. Founded in 1894 as a planned community, Del Ray quickly became a bustling streetcar community. While the electric rail lines that brought on the boom have disappeared, Del Ray has remained a focal point of the City of Alexandria and the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area. Del Ray, home of the charming Mount Vernon Ave, Where Main Street Still Exists, boasts locally owned shops, restaurants, fitness studios, music studios, and boutiques. Del Ray and Rosemont are home to the unique and charming tree-lined streets featuring Farmhouses, Sears Kit House Bungalows, Craftsman, Virginia Colonials, and 1940’s rowhomes. There is truly something for everyone. The Braddock Road Metro, King Street Metro, and Amtrak station are easily accessible for commuters whether you are going to Washington, D.C. Reagan National Airport, or Northern Virginia.

Welcome to Del Ray

Del Ray is "Where Main Street Still Exists" with made-for-strolling Mount Vernon Avenue dotted with independent shops, the Del Ray Famers Market, and a booming restaurant scene. Our favorite time to visit is for weekend brunch. Check out our blog post for suggestions about the best spots for brunch, including several that are in Del Ray. Del Ray is also known as “Well Ray” for its large community of holistic health businesses.

Eclectic shops and signature events like Art on the Avenue contribute to an artsy ambiance. Del Ray hosts the popular "First Thursday" events, in which every first Thursday of the month a new festival takes to the streets, attracting visitors and locals alike in search of family fun and a splash of local culture.

On the north side of Del Ray, find shows at America's legendary music hall, The Birchmere in the area known as Arlandria, also popularly known as Chirilagua, for the El Salvadoran village that was at one time home to many of its residents where now, small shops and restaurants with an international flavor line its streets.

Del Ray is adjacent to National Landing, a newly branded neighborhood encompassing parts of Pentagon City and Crystal City in Arlington and Potomac Yard in Alexandria, which is welcoming Amazon’s major new headquarters in Northern Virginia and Virginia Tech Innovation Campus.
