Mount Vernon

The Mount Vernon District of Fairfax County originated with George Washington’s Mount Vernon and now encompasses land along the Potomac River reaching to Fort Belvoir and Gunston Hall. Much of Mount Vernon is built on plantation land formerly owned by the first president of the United States. The district holds several spectacular waterfront homes, as well as the historic Mount Vernon Estate, Mount Vernon Country Club, local restaurants like River Bend Bistro and wine shops like Unwined, a bike trail along the George Washington Parkway, and local marinas and recreation facilities.
